Graham Potter one step closer to West Ham sack after decision taken vs Crystal Palace

West Ham supporters are continuing to show their unrest ahead of the game against Crystal Palace.

David Sullivan has been asked to step down as West Ham chairman, and supporters have been ramping up demonstrations to push for a change.

Fans have lined the streets in protest of the way the club is being run, and should they lose to Crystal Palace, unrest is expected to grow.

Graham Potter is expected to be sacked by West Ham should the Irons fall to a fifth defeat of the season, and his team selection doesn’t bode well.

James Ward-Prowse starts vs Crystal Palace

West Ham have lined up multiple experienced Premier League managers, such as Sean Dyche, to replace Potter should he be sacked.

The former Chelsea boss is now one step closer to being sacked as James Ward-Prowse is set to start against the Eagles.

Ward-Prowse has come under criticism from West Ham fans for his lack of work rate in midfield, and people are questioning why Potter keeps playing him.

The former Southampton captain has struggled since arriving in East London and was shipped off to Nottingham Forest on loan last season.

After signing Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa in the summer, supporters had thought they had seen the last of Ward-Prowse in a claret and blue shirt.

When the Hammers have new signings and up-and-coming youngsters who have shown that they can compete with first-team players, it doesn’t make sense not to give them a chance.

Freddie Potts and George Earthy have shown in the preseason that they are better than Ward-Prowse, with the latter even turning down loan moves to fight for a place in the side.

Graham Potter gets desperate with West Ham line-up

Potter at least did the right thing and is starting an out-and-out number nine in Callum Wilson against Palace.

Against Tottenham, West Ham played Lucas Paqueta as a false nine, which seemed to take away all of the creativity in the side.

However, choosing to stick with Ward-Prowse could be enough to get Potter the sack if West Ham fall to another defeat.

The Hammers hierarchy have seemingly been disrespectful by speaking to managerial candidates while the 50-year-old is still in his post.

But Potter is making problems of his own, as is the case with this latest XI.
