Gary Neville namechecks Alejandro Garnacho amid ‘incredible’ Mohammed Kudus moment for West Ham

Gary Neville raved over Mohammed Kudus’ “incredible” overhead kick for West Ham versus Manchester City and likened his effort to one scored by Alejandro Garnacho this season.

Ghana forward Kudus celebrated a wonderful acrobatic effort shortly before half-time at the Etihad Stadium a game where the Hammers were beaten 3-1 as City wrapped up a fourth straight Premier League title.

Neville, speaking on commentary for Sky Sports Main Event (19 May), hailed Kudus’ effort, though, and said it reminded him of the one Manchester United gem Garnacho managed against Everton back in November.

“An incredible goal,” he said.

“It’s similar to the Alejandro Garnacho goal at Everton. It is brilliant from Mohammed Kudus.”

Mohammed Kudus scores stunner in Manchester City vs West Ham United

The result was not what David Moyes wanted on his final game in the dugout as West Ham boss, even if some supporters might at least take solace in the fact that their defeat at the Etihad Stadium at least ensured Arsenal could not win the Premier League title.

But the Scot was at least treated to a stunning moment from this team as he bade farewell, with Kudus – 23 – scoring an absolute stunner of an overhead kick to make the homes a little tense.

West Ham Mohammed Kudus-2

Kudus has had an excellent first season in England since joining from Ajax last summer and has even been linked with a move in the summer with some big teams reportedly circling.

Hopefully West Ham can reject any overtures, though, and supporters can enjoy plenty of more brilliant moments from their fantastic forward because you get the sense he can kick on even more next season.
