Gary Neville blown away by ‘really good’ West Ham United ace Thilo Kehrer in incident v Man City
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was blown away by West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer for “staying alive” during a dangerous Manchester City attack on Wednesday (3 April).
The Hammers made the trip to the Etihad to take on Pep Guardiola’s men in the Premier League.
And West Ham centre-back Kehrer impressed Neville with his defending for one Manchester City attack just after the half-hour mark.

“Really good from Kehrer, just staying alive,” Neville said on Sky Sports. “John Stones does well initially then Kehrer just adjusts his feet, he just sees that run and is so compact and gets a good foot in.
“It would have been easy for him to say ‘that’s not my man’ and not be aware and anticipate what’s around him.”

Tough test for the Hammers
West Ham were always going to be up against it right from the very start against a strong Manchester City side, who had a clear goal before the match of taking top spot back off Arsenal.
For the Hammers, it was a chance to climb further away from danger after a worrying run of form, with the club losing their last two matches.
But Moyes will remind his players that prior to those defeats to Liverpool and Crystal Palace, his team were on a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions, with the Hammers securing a spot in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League within that run.
The East London outfit definitely went into the game at the Etihad with strong intentions, but not many clubs leave the stadium with their heads held high given the immense talent within Pep Guardiola’s squad.
But Kehrer definitely did well to stay focused against the world-class stars at Manchester City such as Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva.
