Gary Lineker shares instant reaction as West Ham United win Europa Conference League v Fiorentina
Gary Lineker was blown away by Jarrod Bowen’s last-gasp winner for West Ham in their Europa Conference League victory over Fiorentina on Wednesday night.
David Moyes won the first major trophy of his career with a 2-1 victory in Prague, courtesy of second-half goals by Said Benrahma and Bowen.
After Bowen’s 90th-minute goal sparked incredible scenes among West Ham fans in the Eden Arena, Lineker took to Twitter to react.
He simply said: “Wow. Amazing. Yes, West Ham.”
Massive.
You don’t have to be a West Ham fan to realise how huge a victory this is for West Ham United.
Moyes, Bowen, Benrahma… all of them have written themselves into the history of the East London club, who are now the holders of a major European trophy.
They’ll also be playing in the Europa League next season as the Conference League champions and who knows? Maybe the Irons will seek vengeance for how their Europa League campaign ended last season.
It truly was an incredible night and we hope there are more to come, we really do.
Irons fans have agonised over nights and events like this for decades and decades – a lot of us have never even seen this team win anything other than second-tier silverware.
