Duncan Ferguson rages at ‘pitiful’ West Ham moment he saw vs Everton

Duncan Ferguson didn’t hold back in his scathing review of West Ham as they drew 1-1 with Everton on Monday.

West Ham welcomed Nuno as head coach over the weekend, and he instantly took a place in the dugout on a trip to Merseyside.

The ex-Nottingham Forest boss took charge of West Ham against Everton, despite overseeing just two training sessions in East London.

Nuno couldn’t stop his West Ham side from conceding from set-pieces at Everton, as the negative trend from dead-ball situations continued.

This sparked Ferguson into life to slam the Hammers as frustration from the London Stadium faithful continued into the new regime.

Duncan Ferguson fumes at West Ham defending vs Everton

Graham Potter was sacked by West Ham, shockingly, after taking up media duties at Rush Green less than 24 hours before his exit.

Despite this, his departure was justified, and the defending from corners and free-kicks played a large role in this reasoning.

This fault of the Englishman has seemingly bled into the new spell of Nuno, with Michael Keane’s Everton opener representing a massive concern for the Hammers.

It was the marking of Konstantinos Mavropanos that caught the eye, leaving Ferguson less than impressed while talking via Sky Sports Premier League on 29 September.

He said: “It’s West Ham’s Achilles heel isn’t it?

You’d expect your team to push out of the box and get as high as they can. I think they’re a bit deep, I’d be bringing them to the 18-yard line.

It’s a great header, but they don’t stop the cross. You’ve got to be as quick as you can, get out there and up the pitch so you’re closer to engage.

That’s pitiful, to be honest. The whole line is too deep, plus they’re ball watching.

Nuno certainly has work to do at Rush Green

In the second half at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Irons were superb and arguably deserved all three points against David Moyes’ side.

Jarrod Bowen’s goal was electric and was exactly what the likes of Malick Diouf, Crysencio Summerville and Matheus Fernandes deserved for their performances.

This is what has caused widespread frustration among the claret and blue faithful, as it is their own actions that have prevented them from securing a win.

Moving forward, Nuno will be able to work on his side’s defending from dead balls and make positive changes that can carry the Irons up the Premier League table.
