David Sullivan ‘petrified’ as new West Ham claim made live on BBC during Everton game

David Sullivan is facing concerns as West Ham face off against Everton on Monday.

The Hammers have gone in at the break one down against David Moyes’ side in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge.

Nuno was appointed by West Ham on Friday, giving him just two opportunities to take training with his new side at Rush Green.

This hasn’t had a totally negative impact on West Ham’s trip to face Everton, as the away side have put in a positive shift on Merseyside, despite falling behind.

That may not be enough to stop concern building in the Irons’ boardroom as the latest Sullivan worry has now emerged from E20.

David Sullivan scared of West Ham United relegation

With West Ham sacking Graham Potter in shock fashion, it is clear that there is already fear building in East London this early in the season.

This has been somewhat eased by the appointment of the Portuguese head coach, despite his pragmatic style of play.

The ex-Wolves boss was hugely effective in his last role with Nottingham Forest, and there will be hopes of repeating that in claret and blue.

This won’t be easy, and clearly, the board at the London Stadium have high hopes for the new boss to drag the Hammers away from the drop zone.

Chris Sutton, while speaking via BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club on 29 September, shared his belief about how scared Sullivan and Co. are about dropping out of the Premier League this season.

He said: “The West Ham owners are petrified of relegation, so Nuno has been brought in to keep them up. They have made some odd appointments in recent years. He will bring organisation at least.

Nuno has work to do at West Ham

The Irons have done well in spells against the Toffees, but have fallen behind due to yet another moment of defensive frustration.

Michael Keane was left free as a bird to head past Alphonse Areola from yet another set-piece routine.

This was an element of constant annoyance under Potter, and it is clear that Nuno hasn’t been able to turn the tide on this side of the Hammers.

Despite a generally positive showing in L4, it is clear that the former Wolves boss has work to do if he is to carry West Ham away from a dreaded relegation to the Championship.
