David Moyes gesture to Rob Edwards spotted after West Ham United v Luton Town

David Moyes was spotted embracing Rob Edwards after West Ham beat Luton Town 3-1 at the London Stadium on Saturday (11 May).

Following the match, the Hatters’ relegation has all but been confirmed with just one game to play.

Luton took the lead through Albert Sambi Lokonga, which threatened to spoil Moyes’ London Stadium send-off, but goals from James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and George Earthy proved too much for the relegation-bound club.

Taking to X on Saturday (11 May), Daily Mail reporter Kathryn Batte wrote: “A nice moment between David Moyes and Rob Edwards at the end of the game. Moyes put his arm around Edwards, seemingly giving some words of comfort.

“A young manager who has done a great job and will only get better.”

West Ham United hand huge blow to Luton Town as Premier League relegation looms

While Moyes is to leave the London Stadium at the end of the season, he certainly has a lot of wisdom to share and Edwards will be extremely grateful that he took the time to offer him some words after the match.

The Scot led the Hammers to their first European trophy in decades last term before this campaign turned into a damp squib after the turn of the year despite a promising first half of the season.

Moyes bowed out in style on home soil with a comeback win against Luton at the London Stadium and will now focus on the trip to Manchester City in the final game of the season on Sunday 19 May.

Edwards was even linked with the West Ham job as pressures mounted on the club to replace Moyes earlier this season, though it seems certain that Julen Lopetegui will take over for next season.

The Welshman has done incredibly well to keep his side battling right until the end of the Premier League campaign, but it looks as though it was just too big of an ask to avoid relegation alongside Sheffield United and Burnley.
