David Gold blown away by Michail Antonio as West Ham win 4-1 v Leicester
David Gold was blown away by Michail Antonio’s performance on Monday night as the West Ham forward scored twice in a 4-1 win against Leicester City.
It was an impressive performance by the Irons in front of a packed London Stadium with Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma getting on the scoresheet before Antonio’s second-half brace.
West Ham co-chairman Gold couldn’t hide his appreciation for the fans and for Antonio after the victory put the Hammers top of the Premier League.

“We were awesome it was great to have the fans back. They were terrific” said Gold via his personal Twitter account after the game on Monday night.
“Michail was fantastic. Proud.”
Record breaker
Antonio’s first goal made him the highest-scoring West Ham player in Premier League history.
Both goals were simply sublime and while Paulo Di Canio might not be too pleased about losing his record, there’s no one we’d rather see it go to than Antonio.
All summer, West Ham fans have been crying out for a striker.
In fact, ever since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax in January, supporters have felt the need for David Moyes to land a new centre-forward.
But if a striker does come in before the transfer window closes next Tuesday, they’re unlikely to take Antonio’s spot in the starting line-up because his two goals against Leicester were taken out of the book of some of the best strikers in the world.
Antonio showed extremely good positioning, strength, skill and precision to beat Kasper Schmeichel on both occasions.
We’re happily going to watch replays of those two goals all day.
In other West Ham news, Dharmesh Sheth says there’s every chance the Irons will sign this international forward.
