Danny Murphy wowed by what he saw in 1st half of West Ham v Bournemouth

In a game of few chances, West Ham got themselves very close to an opening goal in the first half but Neto stood tall for Bournemouth.

The Irons had control of the majority of the game as the Cherries looked to make things difficult for David Moyes’ side in the final third and they were successful in their plan.

Flynn Downes had perhaps the best chance to find the net as he started yet another game in central midfield and it was a chance he probably should have taken before Neto then saved from Aaron Cresswell on the rebound.

West Ham

The passage of play stunned Danny Murphy who could not believe that the Hammers had not taken the lead as he described Downes falling to his knees in disbelief.

“Great move. Falls to Downes and he’s got his head in his hands after. Then Cresswell has a shot, but what save that is,” Murphy said on talkSPORT.

“It’s been a decent start and they look the more likely.”

One moment

If the pattern of play resumes in the same manner after the break, then there will only be one winner of this game and it won’t be Gary O’Neill’s Bournemouth.

West Ham

The way the midfield, in particular, are controlling the game all over the park is not giving the Cherries any kind of way out on a consistent basis and it has kept all of the pressure on the away side.

For West Ham now, it should only take one moment of brilliance or creativity to open the game up and finally put the Hammers in front in a game where they should be winning comfortably.

If they can manage that, which should not be hard with the players on hand for Moyes, then they will climb up to the top half of the Premier League table.

That is where West Ham have to be challenging and they know that the start to the season has not been good enough but this has to be the start of a surge up the league table.
