‘Dreadful’, ‘Joke’ – Many West Ham fans destroy player in ‘weakest area’ after 2-0 defeat

It was the same old West Ham United on Saturday, as they fell to an opening day 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.

After making no signings in the summer window as of yet, David Moyes was forced to play the same team that struggled after lockdown last season.

Moyes wants defensive reinforcements but instead was forced to start with the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Ryan Fredericks once again.

It was Cresswell at fault for the first goal, allowing Javier Manquillo past him to put the ball on a plate for Callum Wilson’s strike.

The experienced full-back allowed the Spaniard onto his favoured right-foot far too easily as he struggled to defend one-on-one again.

The 30-year-old had a shocking evening all round, successful with 0% of his tackles, making only one clearance and winning only 50% of his six duels.

Even on the ball, Cresswell couldn’t make anything happen – struggling with his passing and especially with his delivery into the box.

Despite Arthur Masuaku being fully fit, Cresswell still completed 90 minutes, much to the dismay of the Irons faithful watching on.

Many West Ham fans have reacted to his display in the 2-0 defeat, with the majority bewildered how he hasn’t yet been replaced.

Even with the knowledge that finances are short, some of the Irons faithful are desperate to see anyone arrive to replace the left-back this season.
