Clive Allen savages Pablo Fornals for West Ham United v Sevilla in Europa League

Clive Allen has savaged West Ham United attacker Pablo Fornals for his attacking play in the Europa League showdown against Sevilla.

The Spaniard wasted some good opportunities in the second half to put in some dangerous crosses in the final third.

Allen labelled Fornals as “sloppy” with his crossing and passing wasteful in two dangerous scenarios in the second period.

Speaking live on BT Sport this evening, Allen was not impressed with the Spaniard in the dangerous areas of the final third.

“That’s a sloppy one from Fornals,” he said.

“Frustration for David Moyes because there was some good movement, some good interchanging of positions, Lanzini had dropped deep and Soucek went forward.

“But, there is real confidence in this West Ham performance.”

Sloppy.

This was a real opportunity for the Irons.

Sevilla have seen their squad destroyed by injuries recently, and with some potentially back next week for the return leg, these chances were critical.

Fornals was picking up some beautiful positions in and around the box, but his final delivery or pass was just embarrassing at times.

This chance was a cross to the back post when Tomas Soucek had come short, and only minutes after that, he had to play a five-yard pass across the box and fired it straight to the home side.

You can’t afford to do that in these huge games against the likes of Sevilla on the European stage, and these are the lessons that need to be learned quickly.
