Chris Sutton spots David Moyes rage over West Ham United incident v Derby in first half of FA Cup showdown

Chris Sutton has spotted that David Moyes was furious that the West Ham defence couldn’t deal with the pace of Tom Barkhuizen in the first half of the FA Cup clash on Monday (30 January).

The Hammers did progress to the next round of the competition by beating Derby 2-0 at Pride park.

Jarrod Bowen appears to have regained his old form, and he was on the scoresheet again inside the opening 10 minutes.

Michail Antonio added another after the break as the Hammers move into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

In the 3rd minute of the match, Barkhuizen outpaced the Hammers backline but he couldn’t make the best use of his effort. Moyes was furious with his defenders as they couldn’t cope with his pace.

“Barkhuizen is really quick and is playing on the left. It was just one long ball into the channel, he outpaced the West Ham backline and couldn’t make the most of it,” said Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live (3rd minute of the match), as relayed by BBC Sport.

“It’s an early warning for West Ham and David Moyes is off his bench. He doesn’t look happy.”

Lack of cohesion

Despite the fact that the Hammers won the game, it wasn’t pleasing to the eye.

They were disjointed and Moyes didn’t look happy with the performance.

There were times when they had the opportunity to send Bowen through but they failed to take those chances.

It was also nice to see Soucek playing really well. He provided an assist for Bowen’s goal and created another very good opportunity for Emerson with a 60-yard pass.

Antonio also managed to get a goal and it should give him a lot of confidence.

The senior Hammers striker has been linked with a move away from the club this month, and Moyes didn’t want him to leave.

He has repaid the faith here and scored the second goal for the club to kill Derby’s any hopes of coming back into the game.

All eyes will be now on Tuesday’s deadline as West Ham will be looking to add at least one or two players to bolster the squad.
