BBC pundit Michael Brown loves what ‘wonderful’ Aaron Cresswell did for West Ham in 1st half v Wolves

West Ham have one of the Premier League’s best left-backs in Aaron Cresswell and the Englishman was looking very good in the first half against Wolves.

The 32-year-old’s trusty left foot delivered a sumptuous cross into the area early on at the London Stadium that top scorer Jarrod Bowen very nearly got on the end of.

BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Michael Brown couldn’t get enough of what he’d just seen from the Irons’ star.

“That was a wonderful ball and the first real opportunity we have seen for West Ham,” Brown said, as quoted by the BBC’s live text commentary of the game.

The wand

There are fewer greater sights in the entirety of football than a left foot as good as Cresswell’s.

His unbelievable ability to get the ball into the right areas every time with that wand of a left boot is unlike any other left-back in the entire Premier League and very few players, in general, can match it.

He’s even got the dead-ball down to a tee too and you wouldn’t bet against him burying a free-kick into the top corner despite being a natural defender.

That’s the way with modern full-backs now as we’ve seen with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier in recent seasons.

Ben Johnson is, unfortunately, not quite at the same level yet but the longer he hangs around with Cresswell, the better he will become in the final third.

In other West Ham news, this subtle change David Moyes has made is hurting the midfield of his team.
