Ally McCoist furious at ‘sickening’ West Ham defender Kurt Zouma after cat video emerges

Ally McCoist has slaughtered Kurt Zouma after the West Ham defender was filmed allegedly abusing a cat.

On Monday night [7 February], The Sun revealed a video that appeared to show Zouma, 27, drop-kicking a pet cat before hitting it in the face with a child present.

Zouma has since apologised for the video while Surrey Police, via the London Evening Standard, say “enquiries are underway” after they received an “allegation in relation to an animal being abused”.

West Ham

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning [8 February], Rangers legend McCoist could not hide his disgust after watching the video of the West Ham centre-back.

“Nothing should surprise us anymore but that was actually sickening,” said McCoist, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account.

“Now, in normal circumstances, I’ll be quite honest with you, I wouldn’t have looked at the video because I just don’t want to see things like that. However, due to the fact that we come on and have to talk about these things, you’ve got to have a look at it.

“It was sickening, it was pathetic, it was bullying of the extreme. I don’t know, it’s just again tarnished the image of professional footballers.

“It was embarrassing and shocking and horrible at the same time. It was all of those things.

“To do what he did is the most horrendous of crimes. However, to film it and then put it out – if you’re talking about gross stupidity, I don’t know what level you’re talking about there.”

Disgusting

West Ham have a really big issue on their hands because Zouma simply saying ‘sorry’ isn’t enough for us and for a lot of other people.

He’s not only let himself down, the fans down and the club down, the video shows that he’s mistreated and abused a defenceless animal that he should be taking care of.

It’s horrific and if you haven’t seen the video yet, we don’t recommend watching it.

Zouma has to do more to make amends here and firstly, he needs to give up any pets he has to a new and loving home. There’s just no way that he should be allowed to have pets in his house ever again.

He should also make a substantial donation to some of the great charities that look after cats and other pets. It’s not like he’s going to struggle to put together the funds to be able to do that.

David Moyes is in a horrible situation here because even though Zouma is one of his best players and easily his best available centre-back, he has to dish out some form of punishment.

Zouma cannot be let off lightly here.

In other West Ham news, Tom Davis has dubbed one of Zouma’s teammates as an “embarrassment”.
