‘Absolute animal’ – West Ham Super Fans name MOTM after 3-2 win v Palace

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Ham Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around the London Stadium.

West Ham moved up to fourth in the Premier League table on Tuesday night with a superb 3-2 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Wilfried Zaha earned the Eagles an early lead in the third minute but just six minutes later, Tomas Soucek grabbed an equaliser when he headed home from close range.

Soucek then put the Irons 2-1 ahead to grab his seventh goal of the Premier League season when he bundled in Aaron Cresswell’s 25th-minute free-kick.

Craig Dawson netted his first goal for the Hammers in the 65th minute before Michy Batshuayi’s stoppage-time goal served as no more than a consolation for Palace as David Moyes’ men reigned supreme in South London.

We asked our panel of West Ham Super Fans to name their man of the match after the victory at Selhurst Park and one name was on everyone’s’ lips.

Moyes’ men are on-song at the minute and you could make cases for several players to win man of the match on any other night but there’s no way anyone can look past Soucek for his display against Crystal Palace.

Not only did Soucek score two goals but he also dominated the game in the middle of the park.

According to stats by WhoScored, no West Ham player won more tackles [4] or aerial duels [4] than the Czech international while only Andros Townsend [5] completed more interceptions than him [3] out of everyone who played.

Soucek also had four attempts at goal, scoring with half of them and hitting the target with three of them.

It was an inspired display by the ex-Slavia Prague man, who is making waves in the Premier League in claret and blue.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are looking likely to sign Jesse Lingard on loan.
