Why Nuno will live to regret West Ham decision vs Charlton, it involves Joel Piroe
West Ham United have named their starting XI to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
The Hammers are now ready for the first London Stadium encounter of the Championship season.
They already have a win under their belt in E20 having beat Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup to begin the campaign.
Things didn't go so swimmingly against Burnley to begin the a new year in the second tier as the Irons threw away a 2-0 lead to draw.
Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping for better against the Addicks this time around.
Things won't be easy for West Ham against Charlton, especially with the decision to start with Joel Piroe
West Ham name starting XI vs Charlton Athletic
It's safe to say that Nuno was frustrated after only taking a point away from Turf Moor last week.
It was as much as the Irons deserved in the end as Burnley were simply superb in the second half.
That was largely due to the lack of depth available to the East Londoners/
There will be hope that things will be different against Charlton, even if the starting XI has a familiar feel.
Mads Hermansen starts once again and is joined by a back four of Ollie Scarles, Max Kilman, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Kyle Walker-Peters.
The midfield ahead of them has a new look with Arne Engels coming in for his debut alongside Mohamadou Kante.
Jarrod Bowen and Manor Solomon will feature either side of those to help Taty Castellanos and the second debutant of the day, Piroe.
That may look like a positive set up for the Hammers to use, but Derby County proved that it may not work.
Why Joel Piroe decision could cost West Ham
Nathan Jones has certainly built a side that are tough to beat.
That theme will continue at the London Stadium as they look to secure an impressive result across the capital.
That is especially the case after their opening day win against Derby at The Valley.
The Rams started with a front two of Carlton Morris and Sammie Szmodics.
They combined to get on the scoresheet after 23 minutes, but struggled for the rest of the encounter as the hosts went on to secure a 2-1 win.
West Ham could face similar issues with the introduction of Piroe into the starting XI.
It may have been more wise to use Pablo's absence to add another face into midfield, rather than going two up top this time.
