West Ham United are riding the crest of a wave in the Championship after three straight wins.

Having opened their second-tier campaign without a win in the first three games, the Hammers are starting a click.

A 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers was followed a 3-0 triumph over Derby County last weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men then won a topsy-turvy encounter against Bolton Wanderers 3-2 on Tuesday.

There is little time to rest on any laurels, though, as West Ham welcome Wrexham to the London Stadium on Friday.

West Ham's winning streak has put them right in the mix at the top end of the infant Championship table.

Their victory over Bolton was not without it's difficulties, with West Ham taking the lead before falling behind.

But Kontantinos Mavropanos levelled things up before the break, and captain Jarrod Bowen's second of the game earned all three points.

Nuno is having to do a balancing act with this squad, with West Ham facing Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

But he will ensure their focus is purely on the Wrexham game, which kicks off at 8pm UK time on Friday, 11 September.

For fans unable to make it to the London Stadium, the game can be viewed on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football, with coverage and analysis starting from 7.30pm.

When did West Ham last face Wrexham?

You have to go back almost 30 years for the last time these two sides faced off in a competitive match.

Wrexham earned a shock 1-0 victory on that occasion in January 1997, to settle an FA Cup third-round replay after the first contest finished 1-1 in Wales.

They also met twice in the FA Cup in 1992, but West Ham won the replay 1-0 away from home that time.

But this is the first league contest they will play since May 1981, when West Ham were 1-0 victors in the old Second Division.

So, this game really is a complete unknown with not much recent history for the two teams.
