West Ham United loanee Niclas Fullkrug doesn't sound best pleased with Jurgen Klopp's latest comments about him.

The striker is currently thriving on loan with Werder Bremen, and cannot stop scoring since leaving the Hammers.

The 33-year-old joined the Bundesliga side on a season-long loan, but they don't have an option to buy.

Fullkrug was never going to be part of Nuno Espirito Santo's plans this season, with Taty Castellanos, Joel Piroe and Pablo all favoured by the Portuguese head coach.

However, the German forward just grabbed a consecutive brace for Werder Bremen in his latest performance.

Klopp recently made comments on Fullkrug's form, but the West Ham loanee's response may make for interesting reading.

How Niclas Fullkrug has responded to Jurgen Klopp's performance

Fullkrug featured in Werder Bremen's 3-2 win over Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday, scoring his second brace in as many games.

The 6,2" centre-forward has now taken his tally to nine goals in eight games in all competitions, and is the Bundesliga's top goal scorer, ahead of the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise.

Klopp commented on Fullkrug's form earlier in the week after being asked about whether the West Ham loanee could soon make his Germany national team squad.

The former Liverpool and Premier League-winning boss said: "Niclas Füllkrug scores goal after goal in the Bundesliga, but he’s 33. That’s not my fault."

After his display against Mainz, Fullkrug was asked to share his thoughts on Klopp's comments regarding his age, which clearly hinted that he won't be getting a national team call-up.

Fullkrug said, as quoted by Bulinews: "He listed facts. I’m 33, and I’m scoring goal after goal. There was no opinion attached to it. It didn’t motivate me any extra.

"I don’t play to get called up. I play for Werder. I can’t say anything – what am I supposed to say? I don’t know anything. Anything I say could be wrong or jumping the gun. Honestly, it’s of no interest to me."

It sounded like Klopp's words may have touched a nerve, even if he was trying to hide it.

Why a compromise is needed as sticking point emerges in permanent Niclas Fullkrug West Ham exit

Fullkrug's current value amid permanent West Ham exit rumours

Fullkrug will most likely depart West Ham permanently at the end of the season.

The striker arrived from Borussia Dortmund in August of 2024 in a reported £27million deal.

It's said that the Hammers are willing to let the forward go for a nominal fee next summer, with Werder Bremen keen to retain his services.

Transfermarkt value the former German international at £2.9million, which sounds about right, given his age,

It's a shame that West Ham never got this version of Fullkrug in E20, as he will go down as a big flop, but that's football.
