Troy Deeney loved what he saw from West Ham in Divine Mukasa moment vs Swansea
Troy Deeney was in awe of Divine Mukasa as West Ham United beat Swansea City 1-0 on Saturday.
The 19-year-old scored his third league goal of the season for the Hammers in the 34th minute at Swansea.com Stadium.
In the build-up to the goal, the Irons moved the ball well through midfield before Mohamadou Kante found himself inside the box and picked out his midfield partner.
Mukasa slotted it into the back of the net for Nuno Espirito Santo's team after receiving it near the penalty spot.
While the goal might have come against the run of play, it was an exciting first half with both teams going at each other.
Vitor Matos' team have built their success on defensive resoluteness this season and the East London club were able to bypass it.
Everything Troy Deeney said about West Ham goal vs Swansea
Mukasa has been a key player for Nuno this season and regular minutes with the Hammers will only further his development.
The midfielder has shown a lot of potential at London Stadium and Deeney has recognised it.
In the opening 45 minutes, the Swans had their opportunities, but it was the Irons who took the lead.
The former Watford striker was impressed by the East London club's passing in the final third, which eventually created the opportunity for Mukasa, who made no mistakes in beating Lawrence Vigouroux.
Speaking on CBS Sports on 17 October, Deeney said, "Real good football. Good play down this right-hand side.
"Kante will cut it back and Mukasa who scores. Lovely finish. Number 10 who has got loads of promise."
How Nuno Espirito Santo guaranteed win vs Swansea
Nuno isn't the most popular figure among the West Ham fanbase, but deserves credit for his game management against Swansea.
The Portuguese manager has often been accused of being clueless with his substitutions since being appointed by the Hammers, but got things spot on at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Around the hour mark, Taty Castellanos replaced Pablo up front, adding more energy and pace to the Irons' attack at a time when the Swans were leaving themselves a bit open at the back.
Edvin Austbo then replaced Kante around 10 minutes later.
Towards the end, Tomas Soucek and Joel Piroe came on to continue pushing Swansea back.
Nuno would've certainly been tempted to bring on a defender to secure the one-goal lead, but made the right calls by keeping the defensive shape and adding energy up front instead.
