How Divine Mukasa is already fulfilling Manchester City wish at West Ham

Manchester City will be keeping close tabs on Divine Mukasa at West Ham United this season.

It was a move that looked to make total sense for all parties.

Bringing the 19-year-old back to Rush Green was the sort of deal that fans wanted to see.

It had been three years since his frustrating academy exit to the Citizens after winning the FA Youth Cup in E20.

He's now back in claret and blue on loan from the Etihad with a point to prove.

Mukasa is already getting proper minutes under his belt and as he looks to do exactly what Man City are asking of him.

What do Manchester City want Divine Mukasa to do?

It says a lot about the midfielder that he has made six senior appearances under Pep Guardiola at this stage of his career.

That is how highly rated he is up north.

He has already had a career setback in the shape of his loan stint at Leicester City as they were relegated from the Championship.

West Ham represents a different sort of challenge and it appears to be perfectly suited to the 2007-born talent.

That is the opinion of Carlton Cole who has suggested that experience at a team fighting for the title is exactly what Man City want for the teenager.

Speaking via talkSPORT on Friday, he said: "Divine is at that point where he knows how to play. These are the games when he's going to learn, get experience and know what it's like to lead the pack. That's what he'll get when he goes back to Manchester City.

"That's what he's here to learn. Best team in the league, having that pressure, but not having to be the star man all the time.

"Divine Mukasa is a class act and he's going to be a top, top, top player and one I'm touting to play for England."

What counts as success for Mukasa at West Ham?

The Englishman certainly has a point to prove after his struggles at Leicester.

He will be remembered at the King Power for his terrible free-kick in the last minute away to Portsmouth as the Foxes were relegated.

That appears to have lit a fire in his belly for a move back to East London.

He already has two goals under his belt having started five of a possible six Championship games so far.

Mukasa's introduction has helped West Ham rack up some wins, but he has to keep having that effect.

Should his form drop off and he become more of a hindrance due to his age and lack of experience, that will be an issue in E20.

As it stands, that doesn't look like happening.

The teen just needs to stay level headed and do everything that he's doing now until the end of the campaign.
