West Ham United grabbed a statement win with a 1-0 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.

The Hammers beat the Championship league leaders on the road, putting themselves into second place in the division.

The tone of the game was set from the off after a minute's silence was controversially interrupted, causing the match to have an added element of spice to it.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side took the lead in the first 45 courtesy of Divine Mukasa's strike, with Mohamadou Kante putting the ball on the plate for his fellow midfielder after a cutback.

The hosts then came close to responding after Ben Cabango's effort hit the underside of the bar and almost went over the line before the break.

West Ham missed several big chances in the second half, but Nuno's side were still able to see out the game and take three points back to E20.

Mohamadou Kante now undroppable after Swansea

Kante is going from strength to strength for West Ham this season, and is not showing signs of slowing down.

The Frenchman has been in and out of the starting team, and put himself in the spotlight after getting a straight red card in the Dockers Derby clash against Millwall.

However, Kante never stopped running against Swansea, making space to provide the assist for Mukasa's crucial strike.

The 21-year-old showed promise in the attacking midfield role, proving that there may not be any better option in the position for Nuno.

Kante was taken off in the 69th minute after creating the most chances in the game with four, also winning 100 per cent of his aerial duels.

Why West Ham United will see Mohamadou Kante pound signs after transfer value reveal

Manor Solomon simply ineffective vs Swansea

Manor Solomon had perhaps one of his worst games in a West Ham shirt against Swansea, given the high standards the winger usually brings.

The former Tottenham man created no chances for the Hammers and had a fairly poor pass accuracy of 73 per cent.

He made just one defensive contribution, losing three ground duels, and often giving the ball back to the hosts.

Solomon is no doubt an important player for Nuno, but Edvin Austbo will surely be banging on the West Ham bosses' door for a start.
