Three West Ham truths to emerge from international break as Edvin Austbo provides new option
West Ham have plenty of players still away with their countries ahead of their return to action against QPR.
Mads Hermansen, Manor Solomon and Konstantinos Mavropanos have been featuring in the Nations League so far.
Meanwhile, Edvin Austbo is away with the Norwegian Under-21s, while Finlay Herrick, Airidas Golambeckis, Ezra Mayers and Divine Mukasa are with England Under-20s.
Overall, there are plenty of matches for Nuno Espirito Santo to keep an eye on.
And he undoubtedly will have been keeping up with everything surrounding his players.
Here are three truths emerging from the international break that the Portuguese manager will be looking at.
West Ham lesson Manor Solomon has learned during the international break
Solomon has been performing for West Ham in the Championship, and he entered the international break in fine form.
He had picked up three goal contributions in the final two league games before he jetted off with his nation.
However, over the fixtures so far, Solomon has been quite disappointing for Israel, where he has failed to contribute and his nation yet to win.
With just one game left against the Republic of Ireland, Solomon will want to return with something positive.
However, it does seem that it is Nuno that is working his magic to get the winger flourishing.
Konstantinos Mavropanos continues to increase his stock
Mavropanos continues to show that he should be a top-flight player and hopefully next season he will be that with West Ham.
Keeping the Greek at London Stadium was a major coup for Nuno, and perhaps better than any purchase the Hammers made.
Mavropanos has continued to go from strength to strength over the international break, putting in top tier performances against Serbia, Germany and the Netherlands.
Those nations are no slouches so if the Irons fail to get promoted, that would likely signal the end of his time in E20, as he is far too good for the Championship level.
How Edvin Austbo gives West Ham new option
Austbo is mostly known for his qualities in the attacking third, but for Norway Under-21s, the winger was utilised in a wing-back capacity.
As the Scandinavian youth side took on Bosnia and Herzegovina, the West Ham man managed to secure himself an assist in a 6-1 win.
The change of position is something that Nuno may think about in the future should he look to utilise a five at the back.
Austbo clearly can perform in that role, providing a new option moving forward.
