Three West Ham questions to emerge over the past seven days include how important is that Millwall comeback?

West Ham United showed their mettle to fight back and earn a draw against Millwall in the Dockers Derby.

The first meeting between the two fierce rivals ended in a 2-2 draw at the New Den.

The Hammers were staring down the barrel of defeat as goals from Caleb Taylor and Camiel Neghli have Millwall 2-0 up at the break.

But two goals in the space of six second-half minutes from Mohamadou Kante, who was later sent off, and Konstantinos Mavropanos earned West Ham a point.

Consequently, Nuno Espirito Santo's side are two points off the summit in the Championship heading into the international break.

How important could West Ham's fightback against Millwall be?

There is no diguising just how poor that first half against Millwall was.

West Ham were just too slow out of the blocks, second in the duels, and just found wanting.

But they found another gear after the break, and they might have even nicked all three points on a different day.

West Ham might not be quite top of the table, but you feel they are perfectly positioned to really kick on after the first international break.

Does Nuno have a defensive problem at West Ham?

West Ham appear to be really coming together as an attacking unit, with no team in the Championship boasting more than their 22 goals.

But, at the other end, it has not been quite so cohesive, with 11 goals shipped in total from their eight league games.

Moreover, they also leaked three in the 3-2 defeat to Fulham that saw them exit the Carabao Cup.

This squad is still gelling together after a summer of upheaval, and Nuno will want to use the next few weeks to try and sort some defensive concerns on the training pitch.

Is there a long-throw issue at West Ham?

In a continuation of that defensive theme, one thing that will have troubled Nuno was West Ham's inability to deal with the long throw.

Indeed, both of Millwall's goals were as a direct result of long throw-ins into the West Ham penalty area.

A team as good as this should have the capability to cope with such situations, and it was disappointing to see it happen twice in a derby.

Nuno will need to make sure this doesn't become a long-term problem for West Ham.
