Joel Piroe among three West Ham players whose stock has risen this season
West Ham United are still a work in progress despite riding high in the Championship.
The Hammers went through a summer of turmoil after being relegated from the Premier League.
Several big names were sold, with the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville, and El Hadji Malick Diouf moving on.
West Ham made eight signings to strengthen their ranks, and they sit second in the table after eight games, just two points adrift of leaders Swansea City.
There are still things for Nuno Espirito Santo to fix in is squad, especially in terms of goals conceded.
But there has been much to like too, and here West Ham Zone looks at three players whose stock has risen so far this season.
Joel Piroe
West Ham agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy with Leeds United to sign Joel Piroe in the summer.
The Dutchman has been a prolific scorer in the Championship, and was Leeds' top scorer when they were promoted in the 2024/25 campaign.
However, last season he failed to score in 16 Premier League appearances and was deemed surplus to requirements at Elland Road.
Piroe has three goals in seven league outings so far, though, with only five of those being starts, and he looks like he will have a big impact for West Ham this season.
Konstantinos Mavropanos
It may seem odd to include a defender in this list, especially given West Ham have shipped 11 league goals so far.
But Konstantinos Mavropanos has been contributing heavily to the West Ham cause so far.
That includes scoring four league goals already, including the equaliser in the comeback 2-2 draw against fierce rivals Millwall last time out.
You get the sense West Ham can improve defensively, but Mavropanos has been an important figure so far.
Mohamadou Kante
Mohamadou Kante was only used sparingly by the Hammers last season, totalling just 11 Premier League appearances.
He was linked with an exit from the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, with Serie A club Fiorentina among those interested.
However, Kante remained in East London, and he has eight Championship appearances to his name.
In that time, he has chipped in with three goals, including against Millwall before the international break.
Kante may also have been sent off in that game, but you feel he could be a great asset over the course of the season.
