West Ham 'to watch this space' as Amanda Staveley-led takeover now less complicated
An Amanda Staveley-led takeover of West Ham United is seemingly not completely dead just yet.
Staveley, the figurehead of PCP Capital Partners, was tipped to take over the Gold Family's 25.1 per cent stake in the Hammers over the summer.
Instead, it was Daniel Kretinsky who won the behind-the-scenes power battle to take his stake up to around 46 per cent.
That makes the Czech billionaire the majority shareholder at the London Stadium.
Staveley seemed to admit defeat in her pursuit of West Ham earlier this month.
But it may well be that she is still sniffing around behind the scenes, awaiting a new opportunity.
What is latest on Amanda Staveley and West Ham takeover?
The picture high up at West Ham is fairly complicated - though not as complicated as it was.
This is highlighted in an article by Mark Douglas via the i Newspaper's print edition on Wednesday.
PCP Capital is said to be "undeterred" in its attempts to get on the West Ham board.
A source pointed out to the publication how the situation is actually now less complicated following recent developments.
Through Kretinsky and minority owner Albert Tripp-Smith, or David Sullivan and Tripp-Smith, there is a route to gaining 51 per cent or more.
Funds are said to not be an issue and, while the pre-emption process still remains, it will not be as difficult as it was previously to navigate.
The Newcastle United blueprint Staveley can follow
The same article mentions how "patience" is the key word for Staveley and PCP, as it was when leading PIP's takeover of Newcastle United.
Four years passed between the initial interest from the Saudis in Newcastle and the takeover going through.
That is the "roadmap that could potentially be followed" at West Ham, Douglas mentions.
While it will be far from easy, with Staveley also now taking on a new position elsewhere, it seems this remains one to keep an eye on.
Indeed, Douglas ends his piece by saying "West Ham fans might be advised to watch this space".
Just when you thought the takeover saga was all over for now.
