West Ham United transfer news as medical claim emerges for Brentford striker Ivan Toney
Brentford striker Ivan Toney should not have any issues passing his medical at West Ham or anywhere else this summer, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the England international not looking sharp after returning from the ban is down to the lack of match fitness and rhythm rather than an underlying injury.
The Hammers are understood to be in a race with Manchester United and a host of other clubs to sign the 28-year-old, who’s valued at £50million by Brentford, per Football Transfers on 9 May.
Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:
“He hasn’t looked the same since returning from the ban and my educated guess would be the lack of match fitness and match rhythm rather than any sort of lingering injury.
“It takes considerable time to get up to speed even after missing a few matches, let alone the amount of matches that Toney missed.
“Additionally, he was dropped into the season in the latter half which means higher intensity matches as well. Never easy to do that.
“So, as there don’t appear to be any underlying injury issues, he’s expected to pass his medical.“
Ivan Toney will be a good addition for West Ham this summer
Toney’s potential move to the Hammers this summer would significantly bolster their attacking options.
With 20 goals in 33 Premier League games last season, Toney has proven himself as one of the league’s top centre forwards.
His ability to find the back of the net consistently would be a valuable asset for a team desperate to sign a quality number nine.

The 28-year-old’s arrival will provide a much-needed boost to West Ham’s forward line, potentially filling the void left by Michail Antonio’s age and injury concerns.
In other West Ham news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign a striker who scored 33 goals in 2023/24.
