West Ham United told to ‘go for everything’ as ‘excited’ David Moyes verdict shared
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has urged West Ham to “go for everything” this season, and believes they have the squad to compete on all fronts.
As well as their Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup responsibilities, the club will also compete in the Europa League, with Backa Topola up first in that competition.
That comes after the Hammers won the Europa Conference League last season, which McAvennie describes as an “unbelievable” moment.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “They’ve got a squad now that can go and do that. They have brought decent players in, and have decent players coming through.
“They have to go for everything. I don’t get leaving players out because they want to focus on the league. They should just go for it, go and enjoy the cup runs.

“You can see what it meant to them last season, it was unbelievable. You can see the joy on David Moyes’s face, he was so excited.
“That’s what football does to you, so he’s got to remember that and see if he can do that again for the fans, that would be great.”
The East London outfit have made a strong start to the new Premier League campaign, but their squad depth will now be tested due to their impending Europa League and League Cup fixtures.
Up next for the Hammers is a European tie with Backa Topola, with a League Cup tie against Lincoln City also scheduled for this month.
And the club’s top-flight duties cannot be forgotten about, with Moyes’s side set to play Liverpool and Sheffield United before September is brought to an end.
In other West Ham news, a BBC journalist was blown away by a “simply awesome” Hammers ace in the loss against Manchester City on Saturday (16 September).
