West Ham United ‘stooges’ slammed after Premier League legal battle news

Frank McAvennie has slammed West Ham United’s decision to get involved in the Premier League’s legal battle against Manchester City.

The Hammers emerged as one of the teams, alongside Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Brentford, Fulham, Wolves and Bournemouth, to back the league’s case against the reigning champions [Daily Mail].

Despite the evidence provided, City secured a “seismic victory” as they challenged the regulations on Associated Party Transactions, McAvennie has become frustrated by the decision.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “They should have just minded their own business and got on with it. Don’t get involved. Why would they want to do that? I don’t get it. Newcastle are one of the richest clubs in the world and they’re not allowed to spend anything.

“I’m baffled beyond belief. If someone buys a club, they should be allowed to spend money. Any club would do it. If [David] Sullivan had more money than anyone else, I don’t know if he’d spend it, but you know what I mean.

“The supporters will not like the club getting involved with the Premier League, going against Manchester City. It’s like being a grass. The supporters don’t like stooges in East London so they’ll probably have a song for Mr Sullivan at the next game.”

David Sullivan and Karren Brady are often slammed for being out of touch with the everyday fan, and McAvennie clearly believes this situation is another decision made without them in mind.

Despite this, fans are only becoming more frustrated by City’s dominance in the top tier of English football, having won six out of the last seven league titles.
