West Ham United midfielder George Earthy injury update shared by Doctor

West Ham midfielder George Earthy could be out for the rest of the season in a worst-case injury scenario, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The sports scientist has reacted after he suffered a horror head injury in the 2-0 loss at home to Fulham on 24 April.

David Moyes brought him on after 82 minutes but he collided with Edson Alvarez and lost consciousness after hitting his head on the ground which led to a lengthy treatment.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

This sounds like a concussion, known as a mild traumatic brain injury and the club took the appropriate steps.

“His day to day will be the normal concussion protocol which is first eliminating symptoms and then ramping up activity to see how he responds.

“The best case is a mild concussion while the worst case is a more serious one with more severe symptoms that lingers for much longer and it could keep him out for the rest of the season too.

West Ham unlikely to rush Earthy back from injury

Moyes stated on 19 April that he was in good condition and that is refreshing to hear.

Whether or not the 19-year-old returns to action before the end of the season, remains to be seen.

The club will not look to rush him back as he’s not gonna play too many first-team minutes for the Hammers anyway.

In other West Ham news, the club have been handed a major boost in appointing David Moyes’ replacement as a manager has made his future intentions clear.
