Dan Plumley has insisted that “huge” financial implications are at play as West Ham United continue to fight for their Premier League status this season.
It comes as Football Insider reported on 20 March that Daniel Kretinsky has an active interest in acquiring the shares from the David Gold estate.
The finance expert admitted that it has become more complex with the shares passing through the family in recent months, with potentially different motives now at play.
“There is no such thing as a quick sale,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“It never goes through as quickly as people want or hopes it to. With this one as well as the complexities of people passing away and shares being passed down to family members, that then creates another time element to it where it is likely to drag a little longer.
“Again, you are back to second guessing at motives then because people might assume that the inherited shares that pass down to the next family member, they may assume that their motives are the same as the person that has been deceased, but that’s not always the case.
“You sometimes get these things within families where the shares are passed and someone who is now in charge wants something completely different.
“It does create another factor that would likely affect any takeover and potentially lead to more complex negotiations because you may be dealing with the same blood relation, but you’re dealing with a different person who may have different views on something.
“I don’t think it will be quick or straight forward and again, you have to look at West Ham United on the pitch too as in the back of everyone’s mind in this will be are they going to be a Premier League or Championship club next season?
“That has huge financial implications.”
It will be an interesting few months ahead at West Ham.
Kretinsky has the option to buy the shares of the Sullivan, but an offer has to be placed and more importantly, it has to be accepted by those around the table.
All eyes are on the Premier League status of the club.
