West Ham United in Real Madrid approach change under Tim Steidten

Dan Bardell has compared West Ham to Real Madrid’s transfer business after keeping up interest in Wesley Gassova from Corinthians.

The Mirror reported on 14 July (page 77) that Tim Steidten remains intent on signing the 19-year-old after jetting out to Brazil.

The Brazilian forward is said to be available for a “reasonable fee” and could be the Hammers’ second signing from Serie A, after Luis Guilherme, this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has compared these dealings to Los Blancos who signed Endrick in 2022 before loaning him back to Palmerias.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “It is a market that the Premier League have been quite slow to look into.

Tim Stediten obviously has some knowledge of South America already. As soon as he’s taken over he’s started looking to bring players in, especially from Brazil.

I can see why Wesley would be an attractive prospect for West Ham. Even looking at the elite sides, like Real Madrid, they are taking notice of these sorts of players to get them in while they are young and cheaper than they might prove to be.

West Ham step up Wesley Gassova pursuit

Steidten is looking to do some work in the transfer market after taking charge of dealings after David Moyes departed the club.

Although Julen Lopetegui may have some influence, such as on the Max Kilman signing, it appears that the German has almost free reign.

This has seen him go after various talents from Brazil on different trips to South America to look to complete signings.

Guilherme has already come in while Fabricio Bruno turned down a move to the London Stadium earlier in the window.

Wesley could represent a positive signing as a 19-year-old with plenty of potential but would come as a risk given his lack of experience.

In other West Ham news, the club face competition from Crystal Palace in their bid to sign an out-of-favour Arsenal winger.
