West Ham told to sign Joao Palhinha amid £30m Bayern Munich exit talk

West Ham Zone presents the exclusive opinion of iconic football commentator Ian Darke.

West Ham are looking to sign Bayern Munich star Joao Palhinha this summer.

Palhinha starred for Fulham in the Premier League but has not had the same success with the Bavarian side.

He made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga champions, including 17 times in the league.

West Ham tipped to sign Palhinha amid £30m news

West Ham have been tipped to sign Palhinha by former star Martin Allen, who thinks it will take a fee of £30million to prise him away from the Allianz Arena.

Ian Darke believes that the Hammers should make the move for the Portuguese ace after his struggles in Germany.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “I would definitely go for him.

When he was at Fulham, I think he was one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, that is why Bayern Munich wanted to sign him for a lot of money.

“You remember the move was about to happen, then it didn’t right at the last minute, then it did, they still wanted him and went back for him.

“He can’t force his way into the Bayern Munich side, I think he would be a good signing, he would give you, he would stiffen up West Ham’s midfield, I would say.”

Palhinha could be a star at West Ham

The fans at the London Stadium love a player who fights for the badge, and that was the case with Palhinha for their London rivals.

He is not scared to put a hard tackle in and gives his all when he is on the pitch, and that would suit the Irons well.

The likes of Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez have struggled to make an impact for Potter, and given the Bayern star’s experience in the top-flight, he could be the perfect replacement.

David Sullivan would regain a lot of support if he could pull off a deal, as it would be a real coup.
