West Ham told to sign Chukwuemeka after what ex-manager saw at Chelsea

Martin Allen has urged West Ham to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea ahead of his teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Hammers have reportedly been “considering” a late transfer swoop to sign the duo from Stamford Bridge this winter [Ben Jacobs].

Both midfielders have struggled for minutes under Enzo Maresca and could depart before the 3 February deadline, in search of regular game time.

Former Irons midfielder Allen believes the ex-Aston Villa man would represent a better signing at the London Stadium after what he’s seen of Dewsbury-Hall.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, ex-Brentford manager Allen said: “I’ve seen Chelsea play and Chukwuemeka has always looked like a good player.

He’s young, he’s mobile, he’s got good time ahead of him and I think he’d be a good signing.

Dewsbury-Hall was outstanding last season for Leicester but from what I’ve seen of him at Chelsea, I’m not sure he fits into the right bracket that West Ham are looking for and what is needed.

I would say a deal for Chukwuemeka is more realistic, he’s a good player.

West Ham could target Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea

The 21-year-old has not had a great time since leaving Villa Park for West London, featuring just 32 times in three years for the Blues.

As a result, a move away could prove to benefit his career and the chance to impress under Graham Potter once again could be an attractive prospect.

If the English head coach has to decide between Austria-born England youth international Chukwuemeka or his teammate Dewsbury-Hall, it would be interesting to see who would be chosen.

It is fair to say that the latter has better experience but there is arguably more potential with the ex-England Under-20 international if a deal can be agreed this winter.
