West Ham told to agree £60m McAtee release clause as Man City exit desire shared
West Ham could edge closer to signing James McAtee from Manchester City this summer.
The Hammers have a long-term interest in the 22-year-old, as a London Stadium switch could be entirely possible for the new campaign.
This could see Graham Potter kickstart his mission to revolutionise the Irons’ midfield with the addition of the England under-21 international.
A move for the midfielder could be set to take a step closer if the Citizens are to push their academy ace towards the Etihad exit door.

Manchester City could agree McAtee exit with release clause
It doesn’t appear that the claret and blue outfit has a large amount to spend this summer based on their activity to this point.
Their most recent move has seen Kyle Walker-Peters sign for free after his Southampton exit, while attention could now turn to forward up the park.
This could see a move for the Man City talent make complete sense, especially if Pep Guardiola is keen to get the ex-Sheffield United man off the books.
Former Brentford and Leicester City manager believes City want to sell McAtee to ease financial concerns, with a sale featuring a release clause and sell-on clause at West Ham set to be favoured.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “If I were West Ham, I would definitely be after McAtee.
“He’s young, he’s athletic, and his career is in front of him, not behind him.
“He did particularly well at Sheffield United on loan, and he’s done well in games for Manchester City too. They’re clearly looking to sell him to help with their financial situation.
“Getting him for £25m from City, plus a release clause at around £60m with a sell-on clause, if he gets up to that level, it will be a good deal for West Ham and Man City.
“Everyone gets the benefit of him playing matches in the Premier League that way.“

McAtee to represent coup for West Ham
There is no doubt that the signing of the ex-Sheffield United loanee could prove to be superb if given a fair share of minutes in the Premier League.
This was the case throughout his spell at Bramall Lane as the Englishman contributed to nine goals for one of the worst sides in the division’s history.
Stat | James McAtee |
Appearances | 32 |
Goals | 5 |
Assists | 4 |
As a result, there is every chance that McAtee could thrive under Potter, especially alongside the likes of Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse in E20.
