West Ham told they made Tyler Morton mistake after what Graham Potter’s done
West Ham could return to the midfielder market in January to sign Tyler Morton.
Morton emerged as a target for West Ham over the summer as a move away from Anfield looked to be on the cards for the England Under-21 international.
There were questions over who West Ham could sell to accommodate Morton’s signing in the earlier stages of the window.
Eventually, Morton opted to join Lyon from Liverpool as Graham Potter and Co. turned their attention to other targets at the London Stadium.
Now, the Hammers have been told they missed a trick by not bringing in Morton as their midfield options come under fire once again in E20.

This article contains exclusive comments from iconic commentator Ian Darke.
West Ham miss out on Tyler Morton signing to Lyon
Given that Morton only joined Lyon for £15million, it is disappointing that the Irons missed out on what could have been a huge bargain.
In the end, Mateus Fernandes came in alongside Soungoutou Magassa to add much-needed freshness to the midfield in East London.
With that being said, the addition of the Englishman from Merseyside still would have made a positive impact on the squad under Potter.
This comes after Premier League expert Darke suggested that Morton, 22, would have negated the constant use of the faltering James Ward-Prowse.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Darke said: “They desperately need to sign another midfielder with some running power.
“None of the players mentioned are getting the support from midfield in terms of creativity.
“Tyler Morton would have been a handy buy for sure. He’s better than what West Ham are putting on the pitch at the moment.
“Ward-Prowse has been a fine Premier League professional, but he wasn’t getting a game for Nottingham Forest, really.
“It’s Graham Potter who’s put him back in, but I think they still need some different qualities in that area of the pitch.“

West Ham should now replace James Ward-Prowse
There was initial excitement when the former England international joined from Southampton, largely due to his free-kick and other set-piece talent.
That hasn’t been seen at the London Stadium, and instead, the midfielder’s performances have largely frustrated supporters, especially in recent weeks and months.
With the way that Potter wants his Hammers side to play, it is always going to be difficult for Ward-Prowse to adapt and keep up.
This is where the youthful nature of Morton could come in alongside other new signings to give the Irons a much-needed evolution in the middle of the park.
