‘West Ham to go all out for Joao Palhinha’ as £30m update drops at Bayern Munich

West Ham look set to do their utmost to sign Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich this summer.

The Portugal international has been a firm target for the Irons ever since his days as a Premier League star with fellow London outfit Fulham.

A move to the London Stadium may have been on the cards at one stage, but the 30-year-old eventually opted to join the Bundesliga giants 12 months ago.

After a largely disappointing season under Vincent Kompany in Bavaria, the door could now be open for a return to England with the Hammers.

West Ham to go full throttle for Palhinha deal

There is need for a claret and blue midfield revolution in East London moving into the new campaign under Graham Potter.

This comes as Guido Rodriguez looks destined to depart this summer, leaving a whole at the base of midfield for the Englishman.

As a result, a move for the ex-Sporting Lisbon man would make complete sense and would represent a sizable coup in E20.

Former Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen believes his former side could go all out to bring Palhinha to the Hammers this summer, suggesting it may cost £30million.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “Joao Palhinha used to be at Fulham, he is a very good player.

He’s a real tackler, he breaks up play, and he’s got a great engine and attitude.

If West Ham could get him, I would go all out at any cost to get him. If it were to cost £30m to get him, I would definitely take him.

He is exactly what is needed, so I would sign Paulinha.”

Palhinha could transform West Ham

There is no getting away from the fact that both Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez have been disappointing since moving to the London Stadium.

With that being said, it feels as if the Portuguese ace would be much more of a safe bet if he were to wear claret and blue in the upcoming campaign.

It will certainly be interesting to see how much Bayern Munich will demand, but if £30m will be enough, David Sullivan just has to pay it and seal a real coup in East London.
