West Ham ‘handed green signal’ to seal Michael Zetterer transfer

West Ham are keen on securing the services of Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the German’s fitness record ahead of a potential transfer in the coming weeks.

The 30-year-old was a regular for Bremen last season, starting all their league games and keeping 10 clean sheets.

Zetteter not expected to face any issues with his medical

The former Germany Under-21s international is not expected to face any issues with his medical, according to Dr Brar.

He’s also likely to be ready to start the first game of the new season, provided he gets a few pre-season games under his belt.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “He played every league game last season and did not sustain any injury.

“I do not expect any issues with his medical.

“Despite him coming from a different country and league, the adaptation for a goalkeeper is slightly different, so provided he gets in a decent amount of pre-season matches, he’ll be ready to start from the first gameweek.”

West Ham must seriously consider signing Zetterer

West Ham should sign Zetterer to address their goalkeeping crisis following Lukasz Fabianski’s departure and Alphonse Areola’s inconsistent performances.

The 30-year-old offers reliability and defensive organisation, crucial for stabilising the London Stadium outfit’s backline.

His likely £6.5million valuation and contract until 2027 make him a cost-effective option, allowing funds for other squad reinforcements.

Despite weaker footwork, the German’s positioning and experience suit the Premier League’s intensity.

With competition from Mio Backhaus threatening his Bremen spot, the Irons can secure a mature, dependable goalkeeper to challenge Areola and bolster their defence.
