Tim Steidten starts new trend for West Ham United transfers already
Dan Bardell believes it is hard to know what South American talents will bring to West Ham United but believes Tim Steidten is taking advantage of a potential trend.
The Hammers have been rumoured to want various talents from Brazil ahead of the transfer window with Luis Guilherme [Fabrizio Romano] and Fabricio Bruno being linked.
These are players who have a lack of experience of European football and could pose a risk if Steidten signs them this summer.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes, despite the risks, the German may be taking advantage of a future trend before other teams take notice.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “Unless you know what these players are going to turn into it is really difficult to state whether they will be good signings for the football club or not.
“Steidten’s obviously got a plan in mind recruitment wise and that involves South America. Other leagues utilise that market really well and maybe that will be a new trend that he’s trying to get ahead of.
“It will be one to keep an eye on but at the moment it is very difficult to say whether it will work or not as it is still early days.“
Tim Steidten wants Brazilian West Ham influence
The Hammers are looking to revolutionise under a new direction after the departure of David Moyes at the end of the season.
With Steidten now in charge of transfers and Julen Lopetegui the new man in the dugout at the London Stadium, it is all change.
This has also seen a change in transfer strategy from signing more recognised names to looking at young talents from different leagues across the world.
Last season Moyes opted to bring in more household names like Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse which was a success.
Despite this, Steidten is opting to sign the likes of Guilherme who could prove to be an excellent signing but at 18-years-old is certainly a risk.

There are bargains to be had from South America and the Hammers could certainly get better with these additions for next season.
It is a risk for Lopetegui and Steidten given that they have a point to prove after replacing the work of Moyes.
