Tim Steidten failure rubbished at West Ham United amid latest transfer speculation
Dan Bardell believes Tim Steidten needs to be given more time before his transfer window activity with West Ham United can be judged.
The Hammers have been active in the transfer market ahead of it opening this month (14 June) with various stars linked.
One avenue that the German has been keen to go down is South America, in particular, Brazil, which has seen a move for Luis Guilherme edge closer to completion [UOL Band].
A deal to see Fabricio Bruno move to the London Stadium looked close before it fell through [ESPN Brazil] leaving Steidten with egg on his face somewhat.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has likened the situation to last summer and believes time will tell how positive this window will be.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “I don’t think you would say it’s been a failed summer already because I remember last season it had looked like a bad window after losing Declan Rice.
“Then all of a sudden they signed three or four players and the landscape changed very quickly and you looked at it and thought they’d had a good window.
“I’d say it’s too early to judge but there is an interesting window ahead. How much say does Lopetegui get? What kind of markets are West Ham looking at? It looks really intriguing.“
Tim Steidten making moves with West Ham United
The Hammers are in need of some summer additions as they look to deal with departures while improving on last season.
A ninth-place finish was a drop-off from the previous campaign and fans may have expected better despite winning the Conference League the season before.
This saw David Moyes relieved of his duties at the end of his contract with Julen Lopetegui taking charge as head coach at the London Stadium
As a result, Steidten was given the opportunity to control transfers which has seen him travel to hold talks, mainly in Brazil.
After being rebuffed by various teams for different targets, West Ham fans were getting frustrated even before the window had opened.

A move for Guilherme looks to be nearing completion which will ease some pressure on the German and his transfer activity.
With him and Lopetegui taking charge, they have a lot to prove so their instant impression on fans during the transfer window will be important.
