Roshane Thomas claims defender Fabian Balbuena is likely to leave West Ham at the end of the season.

The Hammers have an option to extend his current deal for another year, but it appears unlikely they will take that option on the Paraguayan international.

Thomas has insisted that David Moyes will want players in it for the long run, and Balbuena’s agent looking for other clubs doesn’t make for good reading.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Thomas said, “I think Balbuena, he still hasn’t signed a new contract.

“West Ham have an option to renew it by another year, but in all honesty, it doesn’t look as though that will get done. His agent has come out and said for the time being we’re looking at other clubs.

“When you think about West Ham challenging for top-four, David Moyes will want players that are committed for the long-term and at this time, that isn’t Balbuena.”

Frank McAvennie has insisted that Balbuena has got to leave the London Stadium this summer, with Craig Dawson having taken his spot.

Issa Diop is the youngest option in the defence, and before his injury, Angelo Ogbonna was one of the standout players in the squad.

Balbuena has been linked with a return to South America once his deal expires, and it seems as though he has run his course in east London.

The 29-year-old has started 12 games in the Premier League this season, and it doesn’t appear as though there will be many more around the corner.
