Pundit View: David Moyes pressure sky high as West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta ‘disgusted’ with team
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham must win against Brentford in the Premier League on Friday night with pressure mounting on David Moyes.
The Hammers sit just one point above the relegation zone after losing to Arsenal on Boxing Day, meaning they have lost ten of 16 games so far this season.
With a huge London derby at the London Stadium up next, McAvennie says the boss must “get his finger out” to turn things around and believes the current performances have left players like Lucas Paqueta “disgusted”.

“He’s got a big one coming up against Brentford and they have got to win that,” he told West Ham Zone.
“They have got to win that. No ifs, buts or maybes, West Ham have got to win this game. And they’ve got to try and win this game because they’ve just not been doing it.
“I’m pretty hopeful. Still think David is the man to turn it around, but he’s got to do it soon. Because he’ll know himself if you don’t get results, it doesn’t matter if you’ve played well or done this, there are so many excuses that people can make but it’s unfortunate because the buck stops with the manager.
“I’m hoping David gets his finger out and they win the game, then get it back to being a happy place again because it doesn’t seem to be.
“When you see Paqueta storming off and walking off, it doesn’t seem happy. No. That’s not down to him thats down to how the team played. He was disgusted with how the team played.

“He’s a big Brazilian, he’s a big player. He’ll have been delighted when he came in last season because of the way they were playing, and now all of a sudden he’s come in and he’s saying ‘what’s this? Hold on..’, then he got injured, came back and they’re not the same club.
“For some reason they’re not playing the same way. And it might just be something simple, but David’s got to find a way to change it. He’s got to find the problem and do it. If he’s got to get rid of a player or two then fine, but he’s got to sort it.
“He can’t let it go on.”
