Pundit tells West Ham United to use Jack Grealish as benchmark when selling Declan Rice this summer

West Ham have been told to use the Jack Grealish £100m transfer fee as a barometer for when they eventually sell Declan Rice.

Rice is expected to leave the Hammers this summer after years of speculation, with David Moyes recently stating that he would be a British record transfer fee when he eventually left.

But with some reports suggesting that the England international could leave for as little as £70m in the summer, Frank McAvennie believes he is worth at least £100m “all day long” when asked if the Grealish fee is something that the club should be using in negotiations.

“Well Declan against Newcastle was back to his best,” he told West Ham Zone.

“I don’t need to tell him that he’s not been doing it for the past couple of weeks before then. He’s been good, he’s been a 7, but he was 8 or 9 at the weekend, back to his self.

“Dominating and commanding and that’s something that happened because he thought Newcastle are a good team and he needs to up his game. And he did.

“I’m not a big fan of astronomical transfer fees, but he’d be worth £100m anyway. All day long. When he gets the lines moving, driving forward, opening play, there is nobody better.

West Ham

“There’s a few players who might come in to West Ham and take his place, he’s going to move. He’s going to move.

“You’ve got to get as much as you can for him. But it won’t go to the club which is unfortunate, because Mr Sullivan is going to sell up and take it.”
