Pundit predicts if Ange Postecoglou will quit Celtic for West Ham United job after speaking to him on Monday

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium

Ange Postecoglou will not be quitting Celtic to take over from David Moyes at West Ham if he is sacked, according to Frank McAvennie.

The Hammers are said to be considering replacing Moyes as manager if he can’t turn results around quickly, with the team slipping into the relegation zone following defeat to Wolves last time out.

But after speaking to the man personally earlier this week, McAvennie feels that Postecoglou wouldn’t be in the running to replace him as he wouldn’t be interested in leaving Celtic mid-season and mid-project.

“It’s not going to happen, he’ll certainly not go there,” he told West Ham Zone.

“I don’t think he’ll go yet. I don’t think he’d leave anywhere in the middle of the season, I don’t think that’s his style. I think Ange has got a job at Celtic and he’s enjoying it, I really do.

“I spoke to him at Frank McGarvey’s funeral on Monday and he’s a nice guy. He’s a football guy.

“West Ham, I don’t know.. No disrespect to Mr. Sullivan, but I don’t know if Ange Postecoglou and David Sullivan would see eye to eye. I think there could be fireworks in there. It is what it is.

“I think they’d get on in respect that Sullivan is a football guy, but Ange wants to do everything his way. It’s got to be his way or no way at all.

“If David got sacked and Ange left Celtic, he’d be great at West Ham. But he’s not going to leave yet.

“He’s got a project and he’s honest enough to do that and do what he says, to make that team into a European force.”
