Pundit names Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and two more in West Ham United and Manchester United combined XI
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
West Ham would have at least five players in a combined XI with Manchester United ahead of their game on Sunday, according to Frank McAvennie.
The Hammers travel to Old Trafford after winning their Europa Conference League group in midweek, following on from a big 2-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Monday night.
But despite Man United playing well and getting results at the moment under Erik Ten Hag, McAvennie believes that the Hammers would more than hold their own if you mixed the squads together and named five Irons players that he’d start.

“I think we’ve got better defenders,” he told West Ham Zone. “Declan Rice would walk into the Manchester United team.
“I think Paqueta walks into the team, if he’s fit. He walks in.
“I think Scamacca is going to be a wonderful striker for West Ham. I think he’d get in ahead of Rashford. Not even a question for me.
“Listen, Rashford has been there seen it and done it. He’s flattered to deceive. He’s more interested in getting his night out and all that kind of crap.
“I’m not having a go at him for that, but his football, it’s taking him a while to get back to it on the football pitch.
“He’s got to start becoming that player again.
“Put the goalkeeper in as well. I think there’s a couple that start.
“I’d play Cresswell before Shaw. He’s doing exactly what David Moyes wants him to do.“
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be included in the squad after his goal in midweek, following his return to the squad after being banished for a refusal to come on as a substitute the week before against Tottenham.
