Pundit moots ‘riot’ if England continue snub of West Ham United ace James Ward-Prowse
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has mooted a “riot” if Gareth Southgate continues to snub West Ham United ace James Ward-Prowse.
The England manager chose not to call up the Hammers midfielder for the recent international clashes with Ukraine and Scotland.
Southgate instead opted to pick the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson for the double header earlier this month.

The former is not getting much game time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, while the latter is playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ettifaq.
Ward-Prowse meanwhile has made a superb start to life in East London following his switch from Southampton in the summer.
England are once again in action next month, with the Three Lions taking on Australia and Italy on October 13 and October 17 respectively.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Ward-Prowse has been the best signing of the summer. He’s up and down the pitch, scoring goals, great free-kicks, great corners.
“But he’s got so much more than that, which I didn’t really notice when he was at Southampton to be honest. So fair play to David Moyes and the boys for bringing him in.
“But he’s clearly got to do more to get in the England team. Hopefully he can get in, and if he keeps playing the way he is playing he has to get in. There will be a riot if they pick Phillips again, because no disrespect, but he’s not playing, and neither is Henderson.”
In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports pundit was wowed by what one “magnificent” Hammers ace did in the 3-1 loss against Liverpool.
