Pundit demands West Ham United change system for clash vs Wolves

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium

Frank McAvennie has demanded that West Ham “go for it” against Wolves and change their system to play with two strikers to turn their form around.

The Hammers have lost five of their seven Premier League games so far this season, with their four points so far coming via a 1-0 win over Aston Villa and a 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

But the team have managed to score just three goals so far in those games, with their other goal coming in defeat to Chelsea and David Moyes has been challenged to turn things around to get better results, as they currently sit in the relegation zone.

So far this season the manager has opted to field just one of Michail Antonio or Gianluca Scamacca from the start in each game, while both players have found the back of the net in the Europa Conference League tournament too.

But now with the side struggling and Moyes fighting to save his job at the London Stadium, McAvennie wants the boss to go with a two-striker system although he doesn’t expect that he will.

“I’d play the two of them,” he told West Ham Zone. “I’d play the two of them up front, especially at home.

Go for it against Wolves and Fulham and the like. Just go for it. See how it goes, see what happens. But he’s not going to do that.”

West Ham face Wolves in the Premier League at home on Saturday afternoon, knowing they need a win to get their season on track.

The club spent a record amount during the summer transfer window signing eight players, and fans want to see improvements quickly.
