Nuno Espirito Santo blow dealt as West Ham size up Graham Potter replacement
West Ham could be scuppered in their efforts to hire Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach.
David Sullivan could soon move to sack Graham Potter after what has been a shocking start to the campaign at the London Stadium.
This hasn’t been helped by West Ham’s defeat against Crystal Palace, where there was once again a general lack of positivity in East London.
Should Potter face the sack, Nuno is in the race to become West Ham manager after leaving Nottingham Forest earlier this campaign.
With that being said, the Hammers may have been dealt a blow in their hopes of landing Nuno after the latest frustrating development in the Irons’ season.

This story includes exclusive comment from former Premier League midfielder Martin Allen.
Nuno Espirito Santo unsure on West Ham job
There is no getting away from the struggles that the E20 outfit have been forced to deal with, summed up by Potter’s sharp tone with Ian Abrahams after the Palace defeat.
This is clear evidence of pressure building on the Englishman’s shoulders, something which he may not be able to recover from.
As a result, David Sullivan and Co. are seemingly on the lookout for a replacement option, with Nuno seemingly emerging as a target for the chairman.
Ex-Brentford and Leicester City boss Allen has been left unsure whether the Portuguese head coach would even accept a move to the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “It would be the fourth manager in 18 months.
“At the moment, Potter has still got his job, so he could still get more time to put some results together.
“We’ve all heard about Nuno with him leaving Nottingham Forest recently. He’ll be looking to get back into the Premier League as quickly as possible.
“Will he want that job to take the West Ham job on? I’m not 100 per cent sure that he would.
“For Potter, knowing that his bosses are out and about trying to find a new manager, it is a very tough time.“

Graham Potter sack seems inevitable
Whether Nuno wants the job or not, it feels as if there is a long way back for Potter after just seven months in the job with West Ham.
There is little to no positivity around the Englishman right now, summed up by the atmosphere surrounding the Crystal Palace defeat.
Stat | West Ham | Crystal Palace |
Expected goals | 0.66 | 2.31 |
Shots | 8 | 18 |
Big chances | 1 | 4 |
Duels won | 46 | 70 |
It will take a lot for him to turn the ship around, especially while Sullivan is seemingly on the hunt for a new boss to take over shortly.
If that is the former Forest boss or is someone else, it isn’t a good look for the future of Potter and his spell in the London Stadium dugout.
