Mads Hermansen slammed in ‘horrible’ West Ham verdict after £18m Leicester switch

Mads Hermansen hasn’t had the greatest start to life at West Ham.

Hermansen signed for West Ham from Leicester City in the summer as Graham Potter looked to add a new number one to his ranks.

This has spelt bad news for Alphonse Areola at West Ham, with the Frenchman being relegated to the bench for the first three Premier League games of the campaign.

With that being said, Hermansen was poor for West Ham against Chelsea and has come under heavy scrutiny for his early performances at the London Stadium.

This feeling around Hermansen has been echoed throughout the footballing world, something which isn’t helping the already under-pressure Potter in E20.

Mads Hermansen slated after West Ham transfer

West Ham cancelled a move for John Victor to sign the Denmark international, but that decision doesn’t look to have paid off right now.

This comes after the 25-year-old conceded eight goals in his opening two games, before keeping a much-needed clean sheet against Nottingham Forest.

Even with that being the case, frustration still surrounds Hermansen after signing for £18million from the Championship outfit to positive fanfare.

This has seen Premier League expect Darke share his annoyance surrounding the keeper and how his failings will be impacting Potter in E20.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Darke said: “The new keeper, Hermansen, has made a horrible start.

He was pretty good at Leicester, so who knows why that is. Maybe there’s a little bit of nervousness at a new club after £18million changed hands.

Potter has his work cut out for him, really.

Mads Hermansen must build on Nottingham Forest showing

After conceding eight to begin his spell in East London, there were fears that the Irons had once again made a poor decision in the market.

It had looked as if £18m for the Dane would have been a bargain after his exploits with Leicester, but it didn’t look that way against Sunderland and Chelsea.

Things did certainly look brighter against Forest, where Hermansen was able to make a number of saves and ultimately keep a clean sheet.

There will now be hope that with clashes against Tottenham and Crystal Palace, the ex-Leicester man can maintain that level shown at the City Ground.
