‘Lucas Paqueta should face FA charge’ after ‘stupid’ antics at West Ham United
Lucas Paqueta could soon face a ban or fine at West Ham.
Paqueta is West Ham’s record signing but has failed to showcase his best form at the London Stadium so far this season.
The Brazil international’s only showcase of quality came against Nottingham Forest, with Paqueta turning down Aston Villa to stay at West Ham before the away win.
It is now the job of West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to get the most out of the attacking midfielder moving forward.
Nuno soon could be forced to work without the number 10, though, after calls were made for Paqueta to face a charge from the FA.
Lucas Paqueta could face charge for bringing game into disrepute
The former Lyon man started in the first game under the new head coach against Everton and put in a positive performance for the most part.
Frustratingly, he went on to embarrass himself as Paqueta went down easily under challenge from Vitalii Mykolenko.
He went down holding his face, despite contact from the Ukraine international being made in the West Ham man’s midriff.
This has been looked down upon by the wider footballing community, with iconic commentator Ian Darke left fuming by Paqueta’s antics.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Darke said: “You’d like to think somebody at West Ham will have a quiet word in his ear.
“My own view of that is – he should actually be facing a charge for bringing the game into disrepute.
“If that isn’t bringing the game into disrepute, what is?
“I’m not just picking on West Ham and Paqueta; a lot of players try it.
“It’s a stupid thing to have done because there are so many cameras now that your cheating is always going to be exposed.
“Paqueta can’t be doing that, you’d like to think that Nuno will say ‘let’s cut that out’ because he’s wasting time trying.“
Paqueta doesn’t need to cheat for West Ham
Everyone associated with the Irons knows exactly how good the Brazilian can be when he’s at his best.
Paqueta has showcased this throughout his spell in East London, but has struggled to do so in recent years, under pressure from allegations of spot-fixing.

There was hope that he could focus on football to allow his form to improve after his not-guilty verdict.
That hasn’t truly been the case, and he is instead play-acting on the pitch and looking to get opposition players sent off controversially.
Nuno will hopefully get in his ear and steer him away from this path, knowing that Paqueta has the talent and ability that he doesn’t need to resort to cheating.
