Keith Hackett: Aaron Cresswell should have seen red for West Ham v Everton, officials will have week off

Keith Hackett has insisted that West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell should have been clearly sent off against Everton.

The ex-FIFA referee admitted that the officials in charge will not be given a game this week after missing the incident.

Cresswell went to smash the ball despite it being inches away from Richarlison’s head, something that only saw him yellow carded.

“He should have gone,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“I’ve no hesitation, he’s kicking at the ball near the head of his opponent, he clearly appears to be frustrated.

“I just feel that the match officials, they won’t be having a game next week, I wouldn’t be giving them a game.”

David Moyes will, of course, be delighted that Cresswell wasn’t given his marching orders and will be available moving forward.

If we are being honest, it is most likely a red card, but it was about time that one of those decisions went our way.

The Premier League may look to take the spotlight off the officials for missing that one, and Hackett believes that could happen by not giving them a game this weekend.
